International and Rotary Foundation
Rotary is a worldwide network and Rotary Club of Romsey Test also has a global perspective that is reflected by support for international activities.

In recent years the strategy we have adopted is to support a number of overseas charities/organisations with whom we have developed a personal relationship. This enables us to work together to agree projects and receive direct feedback as the project progresses and is concluded.

In recent years, amongst other smaller donations, we have supported various projects for the Rainbow School in Kathmandu, Nepal, the Life Centre School in Kisumu, Kenya and supported the purchase of sewing machines for an enterprising group of ladies in a remote village in Ghana.

We are a regular donor to Rotary Shelterbox, and when disasters strike Shelterbox provide life-sustaining shelter to replace what victims have lost in floods, earthquakes and cyclones.

Rotary’s own International charity is called Foundation. Via this charity Rotary has been working with the Gates Foundation for many years on the ‘End Polio Now’ campaign. This campaign has been instrumental in the on going fight to eradicate Polio from the planet, a struggle which is tantalisingly close to completion. Continued support is essential to finally achieve this goal.
