Walk the Test Way, Wow what a day!

Walk the test way kicked off on the 25th September. Over 350 people walked the beautiful test way for their chosen charities from Cancer Research to Baby Necessities from Mind to Rose Road Association. One family from the Ukraine walking to raise money for medicines for resident’s in Mariupol.

"We were so excited to be launching the walk again this year. Covid put a stop to it for the last two years so to have people walking again was truly amazing

The Test Way is constantly rated one of the top 10 best walks in this area and each year this event draws interest from many groups from families to Schools and Scout packs to Charities and businesses all raising vital funds for charity.

Walkers can choose the distance from 5 miles to 25.5 miles. We look after them all day as walkers are bussed from Romsey to their starting location and end the walk in Romsey’s Memorial Park. We have marshals and signage along the whole of the route, along with toilets, water stations and this year we had the great support from Hampshire Fire & Medical Services providing medical cover. Walkers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. We love dogs but prefer that they be kept on a lead. The route is not recommended for buggies or pushchairs.

Sandra from Clear Vision Financial Management team commented “we had a fantastic time

taking part in the Walk the Test Way event. As supporters of the amazing Honeypot Children’s Charity, we wanted to help raise some much needed funds to help young carers access their wonderful facilities. As we are located in Romsey, this was the perfect event to take part in and so far we have raised over £1,200. The team walked eight miles and were fortunate to have beautiful weather and some great scenery to keep them going. Thanks to the organisers of this great event.

David Yell commented “Thanks for a superb event. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was made more enjoyable by the lovely marshalls along the way. A great way to raise money for my chosen charity, Mind”

A spokesperson for the Rose Road Association said “Thank you so much to all of our amazing walkers who took on the Rotary in Romsey Walk the Test Way today! Combined they covered an incredible 300 miles for disabled children and young people! We hope you all have your feet up right now!”

Dentaid commented “Thank you to all the volunteers who organised the walk. It was a great day and we hope lots of money was raised for all the charities involved. See you next year”

So far we have received sponsorship funds of over 19k this will continue to drip in over the next few months and we should know a final figure by Christmas. In 2021, we had 304 people “virtually” walk and we raised a whopping £46k for 71 charities. Since the walk began some 19 years ago we have raised over 1m.
