Reminiscences of Romsey

Reminiscences of Romsey was well and truly back in full swing on the 14th May 2022!

The Rotary Club of Romsey Test has been inviting a group of more senior citizens to an afternoon of entertainment and tea at the Crosfield Hall for over twenty years. Sadly the Covid restrictions resulted in the great event being cancelled for the past two years. It was such a pleasure that last Saturday the well loved afternoon of fun and enjoyment returned !

Over eighty invited guests from societies and friendship groups had a full afternoon of entertainment and enjoyed a cream tea provided by the ladies of the Inner Wheel of Romsey. The event opened with the Club’s president, Roger Shepherd, welcoming everyone and outlining the afternoon’s programme. Without further ado a video presentation by Charles Burnett showed how many of the buildings in the town centre had altered or changed proprietor over the years. The audience were then shown a photographic quiz depicting a number of items in the town centre, often up high or taken from an unusual angle. Prizes were awarded to those with the greatest number of correct items.

Kate Jackson’s film, “Romsey the Movie” provided a comic take on the town with many locals creating a humorous history of Romsey in period dress.

Finally the Romsey Ukulele Band entertained everyone with a half hour’s singalong. Songs from the 60’s and 70’s were well received by the audience.

"Thank you to all who attended Reminisences of Romsey on the 14th May. It was great to get back to this event after two years when covid restrictions had prevented it from being held. I would like to thank and congratulate all those involved in arranging this event, especially the ladies of the Inner Wheel who provided a very well received afternoon tea"

Roger Shepherd, Club Chairman

The event returned to the calendar in style.
